President – Sean Smith

The President shall be the chief executive officer of AD2SF and as such provides active leadership for AD2SF. He shall preside over all meetings and represent AD2SF in all necessary capacities not delegated to the other officers. The President will also act as AD2SF’s primary liaison with the American Advertising Federation (AAF) and AD2 National.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Signing all written contracts and obligations, which must have prior approval of the Board of Directors to be legal and binding
  • Approving all AD2SF budgets, event calendars, sponsorships, partnerships, etc.
  • Attending all national and regional AAF and AD2 conferences

The President is automatically a member of all board committees.

Vice President – Randy Zellerbach

The Vice President shall assist the President in all his duties and shall be vested with all the powers and perform all duties of the President in his absence or disability.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Developing new relationships and maintaining a constant outreach with the Bay Area advertising communities
  • Attracting and retaining club sponsors

Secretary – Ilaria Chang

The Secretary shall give written notice of all AD2SF meetings and keep the minutes of each meeting. He shall, under the direction of the Board of Directors and/or the President, conduct AD2SF correspondences including send out all notices, handle all mail, and keep the official records of AD2SF.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Writing and mailing thank you cards and gifts
  • Compiling information for and submitting to the Club Achievement Awards

Creative Director – Christine Cueto

The Creative Director shall create and manage AD2SF creative strategy, art direction, and creative assets, as well work with the communications committee on behalf of AD2SF or its public service clients. She shall create and develop advertising campaigns that promote AD2SF within the community.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Developing any new creative assets needed for internal or external uses
  • Hosting bi-annual portfolio reviews
  • Overseing the activities of the Creative Committee

Communication Director – Nelson Dorvlo

The Communication Director shall create and manage all public relations efforts on behalf of AD2SF and/or its public service clients. She shall create and develop communications that promote AD2SF, secure desirable publicity and promote the overall standing of AD2SF within the community.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Managing all AD2SF social media profiles and content
  • Compiling information for and distributing monthly newsletters
  • Writing and distributing press releases
  • Managing event or meeting promotions and announcements
  • Managing regular communication with members and nonmembers
  • Creating and maintaining AD2SF press kit
  • Coordinating annual 32 under 32 celebration of young talent in partnership with the SFegotist
  • Overseeing the activities of the Communications Committee

Education Director – Jeffrey Oropeza

The Education Chair shall plan and execute programs to educate the general public on the role and benefits of advertising in our society. These programs shall improve the skills, professionalism and standards of current and future advertising practitioners through education as well as provide an understanding of and confidence in advertising’s contributions to the community and the economy. He/She shall work with partner organizations and universities to encourage student participation.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Reaching out to schools and their professors to encourage student participation
  • Hosting quarterly educational events
  • Participating with the San Francisco American Advertising Awards (ADDYs) and Awards Show
  • Overseeing the activities of the Education Committee, which is comprised of a student representative from each University within the San Francisco bay area

Program Director – Derek Simmons-Tobias

The Program Director shall determine, plan, and coordinate all events and meetings hosted by AD2SF or in conjunction with other partners. She shall work closely with the Membership Director to ensure there is a membership recruitment element to all events.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining a yearly event calendar
  • Developing event ideas and preparing budgets
  • Confirming venues and sponsors
  • Planning and executing day-off venue set-up and cleanup
  • Overseeing the activities of the Programs Committee

Public Service Director – Caitlin Russell

The Public Service Director shall bring professional advertising and promotion assistance to nonprofit clients, as approved by the Board of Directors. He/She shall oversee all aspects of public service outreach and campaign development. The Public Service Director shall also work closely with the Membership Director to ensure that all members are encouraged to be volunteers.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing all day-to-day communications between AD2SF, clients and Public Service Committee members
  • Initiating and attending all Public Service committee meetings
  • Managing the creation of all necessary marketing collateral, client and volunteer applications, and client contracts
  • Presenting any campaigns that are entered into the AAF Public Service Competition at the annual national AAF conference
  • Overseeing the activities of the Public Service Committee

Diversity Director – Justin Adu

The Diversity Chair shall create and manage projects and programs designed to increase the minority representation in San Francisco’s advertising community and to more closely mirror the percentile mix of minorities in the market.

Other responsibilities:

  • Hosting quarterly diversity education workshops or seminars
  • Coordinating all promotional efforts, i.e. press releases, emails, social media outreach if it pertains to diversity education efforts
  • Promoting advertising campaigns related to diversity
  • Promoting and/or developing educational and motivational programs aimed at encouraging multicultural students to pursue careers in advertising
  • Promoting and organizing volunteer events

Treasurer – OPEN POSITION

Under the control of the Board of Directors, the Treasurer shall supervise the finances of AD2SF in a bank selected by the Board of Directors. He shall issue invoices and collect all monies due, issue receipts, and make authorized reimbursements.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Submitting all budgets to the President for approval
  • Organizing all financial documents and paperwork
  • Filing yearly taxes with state and federal governments

Membership Director – Sara Boström/Fredrik Sjöblom

The Membership Directors shall coordinate and manage all membership outreach and retention efforts. She shall work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure that AD2SF is meeting the needs of current members.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Processing membership applications
  • Maintaining a live list of all current members
  • Tracking membership fees, as well as AAF and AD2 National membership dues
  • Communicating with soon-to-be expired members
  • Ensuring each program or event adds value for our members
  • Overseeing the activities of the Membership Committee

Technology Relations Director – Jawondolyn Bandstra

The Technology Relations Director will develop connections with technologically savvy entrepreneurs, organizations, and brands to foster a new generation of innovation within the advertising industry. San Francisco is the capital of technology and innovation in the United States, and AD2SF’s Tech Relations Director shall connect the best of the Bay Area to ignite and inspire further innovation. The Tech Relations Director will also increase the awareness of AD2SF within the early stage startup community both as an organization and as a possible vendor and/or service provider.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Advising the Board of Directors on the tools that will guide advertisers in the future
  • Hosting quarterly technology events including seminars, panels, meet-ups, etc.
  • Developing strategic partnerships between the young advertising community and the technology community

Government Relations Director – OPEN POSITION

The Government Director shall plan and develop projects and programs designed to build effective relationships with local, state and national governments in an effort to initiate favorable legislation, contribute to the defeat of adverse legislation, educate lawmakers, and promote industry self-regulation.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Reporting on pending or proposed city, state, or national legislation affecting the advertising industry
  • Recommending a response to such legislation, if deemed necessary
  • Responding to the national legislative activities of the AAF when such involvement is requested
  • Represent AD2SF at Advertising Day on the Hill in Washington DC
