Planting Trees with Friends of the Urban Forest
On December 12th a portion of our board of directors went on a holiday volunteer adventure. While Ad2Sf’s focus is primarily in the advertising industry, it is important for us to give back to the overall community as well. This time we planted trees!
The non-profit organization Friends of the Urban Forest, with the help of amazing sponsors and volunteers like Ad2Sf, works towards beautifying neighborhoods, cleaning the air, and reducing pollution in San Francisco. Home owners are able to request for a tree in front of their home and the non-profit organization makes it happen. We planted 6 trees in front of 5 different houses and we mastered the process to the point where we became the fastest team! In fact, we were rewarded with an extra tree to plant due to our outstanding performance, yay!
Planting trees with Friends of the Urban Forest wasn’t only an opportunity for our team to give back to the community but also to make new friends. The best thing about volunteer events is that everyone wants to be there and we definitely felt the love and motivation of the people around us. Even better, the home owners who received a tree were so thankful and happy for their new gift. It is heartwarming to be part of something that touches people’s lives even in a subtle way. We were able to appreciate the sense of community and we are very thankful to have been part of the Friends of the Urban Forest experience, especially during this holiday season.
Afterwards we rewarded ourselves by enjoying a hearty brunch – mimosas, bloody marys, poached eggs, and bacon filled the table!
